According to rumors a few days ago, Google Inc. is preparing to acquire YouTube for one billion and 600 million dollars. The IT business is paying close attention to this rumor, based on rumors and word of mouth among employees closest to the parties involved. What could push Google to acquire YouTube is, of course, the huge intrinsic value of the latter, due to its growing popularity. In addition, Google obviously has the means to supply the enormous demand for bandwidth consuming YouTube daily, as well as to integrate the functionality of the popular social networking site in portable devices, thanks to its recent research on mobile. There are, however, some issues which are not clear about these reports of probable acquisition. First of all, there is the fact that Google already has its application in video sharing (Google Video). In addition, issues relating to the copyright of the videos on YouTube may result in not just legal trouble. We'll see if it is only, as often happens, the mere rumors of seperating, sometimes purposely to "excite" a little 'markets.
